Gameplay
Players take on the role of Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor or can customize their own Wildcat, using a variety of outfits, shoes and hairstyles. From there you hit the dance floor using the bundled dance mat as you groove and grind to your favorite “High School Musical” hits. In addition, the game features various multiplayer modes, including competitive and cooperative play. In competitive mode, users can earn power-ups to affect other players’ performances, while in cooperative mode players need to dance simultaneously and in sync to earn high scores. Fans can follow along to choreography from the stars and complete songs to earn points and unlock new songs, clothing and characters.

3 Stars NOT the actual songs
The game is OK. But I was REALLY disappointed that the HSM cast is not actually singing these songs – they use some knock-off singers that sounds VERY karaoke. I don’t know why they just couldn’t have used the music from the CD. Other than that, the graphics are OK and it is decently fun. I didn’t (and probably wouldn’t have ever) paid full price for it.

5 Stars Fun for the kids
Suprised the kids with this one. Suprised myself with how fun it turned out to be. The neighbor kid was so excited she was stomping on it instead of just stepping. Held up fine so far. My daughters are 8 and 11.

4 Stars Fun Game – Good Exercise
Picked this game up at walmart, full price too! should have looked at amazon first. Got it for my daughter and my wife likes the High School Musical movies. My daughter loves the quizzes in the game and loves to dance. I even tried it and it is a pretty fun game. We are only on Sophomore level and it can be tiring!

Like people said it’s not the original singers and they aren’t the best singers but because of royalties if original there would be no way it would sell for [...] bucks. It is definitely worth the price of [...] bucks if you like dancing games and the high school musical music. It is good exercise.

4 Stars great deal… not cheap!
okay, it is an AWESOME game, AWESOME price, but i really wished they actually used troy and Gabriella’s voices. the characters are very believable- they look like the actors/actresses. AND i also enjoy creating my own person, and changing their outfit to work with the song. however, you’re not really dancing, just stepping to the rhythm. and, the mat tends to slip and slide, causing you to miss notes. i would recommend it, for any gender, any age. =]

i mean, how can you pass up a great game for a great price?

2 Stars A Formulaic Dance Game that DOESN’T Use the Real Soundtrack
I was extremely dismayed when my daughter and I found that the game did not use the real vocals of the cast from the film for its songs. It’s such a shame that the creators of the game did not use the tracks straight from the film. I mean, why even bother re-recording the songs? The singing is really poor, especially when compared to the original versions of the songs.

The motion capture is really stiff and unrealistic. The 3D models of the characters that we know and love don’t do justice to their real world counterparts.

This game does have a few things going for it. My daughter spent countless hours creating her own character models and dressing them in various clothes and accessories. Also, the animations for the dance sequences recreate the scenes in which the songs took place.

I’m glad that I did not have to pay full price for this game.

If the game had used the original songs, I’d have given it an additional 2 stars.
