Gameplay
Set in the diverse environments of ‘Baseball Kingdom,’ this is a game that is easy to learn and compulsively addictive, but that also can be made to be as challenging as you want it to be. When you are a rookie go on the offensive by swinging the Wii Remote to smack singles, doubles, triples or even home runs; while when playing defense simulating a pitching motion to toss the ball over the plate. As you grow more confident in your skills, you can choose to attach a nunchuck controller while playing defense to control outfielders for an extra challenge. And regardless at what level you play at always remember that Mario Super Sluggers‘ nine mini-games are always an option. So, when you need a break from organized play, just grab a few friends and take the mound in a pitching challenge or swing for the fences in the home run derby.
Baseball should be a social game, so whether you are by yourself or surrounded by friends, there’s a Mario Super Sluggers game for every occasion.
- Challenge: Trek across Baseball Kingdom in this singleplayer. mode. Defeat characters in a variety of baseball-related challenges to persuade them to join your team. Once you’ve assembled an all-star team for the ages, throw down with the baddest baseballer in town: Bowser! The singleplayer. Challenge Mode is a sports fan’s dream.
- Explore the rich and varied landscape of Baseball Kingdom as you gather teammates for your fight against Bowser. From lush tropical jungles to modern urban landscapes, each area of the kingdom is a new experience.
- Like high-powered free agents, the characters in Mario Super Sluggers won’t join just any old team-they want to play for a winner. When you find a new character, he or she will test your skills on the field. Only by besting them in hitting, pitching and fielding contests can you get them to join your side.
- In Challenge Mode, you can control one of five captains, each with personal special powers. Yoshi can jump through manholes, Wario has the power of magnetism and Donkey Kong can climb vines and shatter barrels.
Special Powers, Weapons, Moves & Features
Mario Super Sluggers isn’t your typical baseball game. From special moves to obstacle-filled stadiums, there’s always something new around the corner for players on the field to deal with. Just a few of the goodies you’ll find out on it’s fields of play are:
- Special Moves: All of the captains have unique Star Skills that allow them to perform special moves while pitching or batting. Mario can turn his fastball into a fireball, Daisy can create a flower garden in the outfield and Luigi can turn infield hits into a raging tornado. Non-captains can also use Star Skills to put a little extra mustard on hits or pitches.
- Chemistry: Just as in real sports, certain characters in Mario Super Sluggers have a special connection on the field. Known as chemistry, this connection allows players to make spectacular leaping catches, gun down speedy base runners and use items to interfere with fielders.
- Stadiums: There are nine unique stadiums in the game, everything from an ice-filled castle to an urban cityscape. Many stadiums can be accessed at both day and night, allowing you to play a doubleheader under the lights.
- Wii Nunchuk: Experienced gamers can also attach the Nunchuk controller for a more advanced gaming experience.

4 Stars Love it!
It was the best game in the world. I really liked it. I still like it a lot. It takes pretty long to beat it, so it makes it more fun. It is simple and easy to figure out. – Reviewed by an 8 yr old
5 Stars Love this game.
This game is really fun, I have only played the challenge part and it was great, it reminds me of mario party, you have to play opponents to continue and unlock other parks, my son loved it also, it got him to get off his PSP and play the wii that has been ignored for a couple of months. [...].
3 Stars The original Mario Baseball was better
This game is still good, the original was just better. In this game, too many things are automatic, like the player’s running and stuff. Many of these automatic things were controlable in the original Mario Baseball. This game is more fun with 2 players, also. The game does make good use of the Wii Remote for various actions, like pitching and batting. I rate this game 72.5/100.
5 Stars Wii Game Mario Super Sluggers
I bought this for my 6 year old son. It arrived a few days later and in perfect condition. He loves it!
5 Stars Kids love it
When we got our Wii, this game was bundled along with it. I really didn’t expect the kids to like it much, as they have never expressed any interest in baseball. However, it quickly became their favorite game. Easy to play, especially on the easy settings. The kids would whack home run after home run and laugh and laugh. Lots of fun for the kids. Adults, probably not so much.

Each installment of the Final Fantasy series has featured strong storytelling, characterization, and strategic combat, fun minigames, and hours upon hours of captivating gameplay. The 10th title in the series is no exception. This is the first time a Final Fantasy game has appeared on the PlayStation2, and it takes full advantage of the increased technical capabilities.
The story this time concerns Tidus, a blond-haired star of a sport called Blitzball. While he is playing in a match, Tidus’s city is attacked by an evil force called Sin, and everything is destroyed save Tidus and his guardian Auran. The adventure begins as the pair are somehow transported to another world. From here on, it’s standard Final Fantasy gameplay: fight battles, manage experience points, learn new powers, and recruit a motley crew of nonplayer characters to join your quest.
The graphics, however, take things to a new level. They are amazing not only for their realism, but also for their imaginative art design. The world these heroes inhabit is breathtakingly beautiful, flowing, and full of inventive surprises. You haven’t lived until you’ve surfed cables high in the air, or ridden a graceful airship through the clouds. The stunning effects are on display when you use magic in combat, summon gigantic monsters, and use fire columns to devastate your foes.
One new element is voice acting. The innovation yields predictably mixed results: it’s wonderful to hear spoken dialogue rather than read subtitles, but as with most games translated from Japanese, the acting is mediocre and sometimes unintentionally hilarious.
Still, the game’s new graphics engine and solid gameplay are sure to please fans of the series waiting to see what Square has in store for them. While Final Fantasy X doesn’t offer much innovation, it also doesn’t disappoint. And fortunately, with Final Fantasy XI already in development, the title is still a misnomer. –Andrew S. Bub
Pros:
- Gorgeous graphics
- Epic story line
- Voice acting
Cons:
- Little innovation
- The voice acting is sometimes laughable

5 Stars Best RPG
Arguably the best RPG. If you’re in the mood for RPG then try FFX cuz modern RPG sucks.
4 Stars Mixed feelings about this one
While the title Final Fantasy may indicate otherwise, this was actually my first Final Fantasy game. Sure I’ve heard of the famous FF series long before buying this, but I never had the chance or financial independence to get one myself when I was little. That’s why, when I got a PS2 as a gift many years ago, I went online shopping and bought this game almost immediately, thinking it was a masterpiece as I was made to believe.
After almost beating the game before losing the saved data on my memory card and then replaying the game half-way again a year or two later, I can say with no hesitation now that this game is overrated, and its only saving grace is the story, which is flawed and ridiculous in many aspects, but nonetheless interesting.
You will spend most of the time playing this game walking around battlefields and randomly encountering enemies. I have many complaints about this. First, the fights are boring and have not much to do with strategies despite what many people claim. (It’s fundamentally very basic.) Second, the game was designed to encourage grinding, the needless leveling beyond what should have been the amount needed to beat the game. All the sweet features in the game such as enchanting equipments, upgrading your summons or your chracters, require too much ingredients or sphere levels for players who do not grind, and without grinding your characters will undoubtedly fall behind in relative strengths to the enemies you encounter, as the enemies get stronger as the game advances.
The game also frustrated me on multiple occasions because you can only save in specific locations, and these save points don’t always come at a reasonable interval. It’s not fun when you want to stop playing but can’t because you have to save before you quit. Not to mention you encounter a bunch of new enemies every 10-20 seconds of walking while trying to get to the next save point. You CAN choose to flee from battle if you have Tidus in your group, but nevertheless it takes a chunk of time to load and/or introduce fights so it really tests your patience.
The game also feels very unbalanced, as some encounters are very easy and some seem ridiculously hard and almost feel cheap. Voice acting also takes off a point from me because they could have done a much better job dubbing in English, and since they did not modify the cut-scenes at all, the timing of mouth movements and gestures are completely off-time with the English dub, not to mention awkward moments of silence here and there during in-game engine cut-scenes.
FF X features a mini game called Blitzball, which is surprisingly fun and rewarding. In my first run, I spent many hours just playing Blitzball over and over again. In my second time though, it did not interest me as much. Blitzball is turn-based similar to the battle system, but you do get to dribble in real time when in ball’s possession. It uses random number rolls and mathematical probability to determine whether the pass and/or shots are successful or not.
The story of FF X hardly makes any sense at all, but it tries to be epic in scale and it succeeds at that. The story is often told in Tidus’s monologue, but in other cases, it uses in-game engine and CG cut scenes to ‘show’ the story. What I can tell you safely though is that the timeline in this game doesn’t make any sense, as if the designers forced to put together the main story with many segments and pieces of lesser stories.
You use sphere grid to upgrade your characters. This system works but doesn’t seem very effective, and ultimately, the sphere grid is shared by all chracters so they all end up like each other in power as the game goes on. (They just start at different parts of the grid.) A more traditional level-up system would have done better.
Overall, I give 4 stars for FF X because it is a game that provides so much playtime and sweet cutscenes that are enjoyable. When I was playing this, I sometimes played just to see how the story unfolds, because god knows I wasn’t playing it for the fun of killing monsters. (Did I mention fights are horrible?) For those that can enjoy the archaic battle system this game provides, it will be a fun and epic experience. For others, it will feel like a waste of time on many occasions, yet the overall experience is not total garbage because it does have strong points that provide entertainment.
5 Stars My first RPG for the PS2
This game has amazing graphics. That’s the first thing you’ll notice.
You easily get captured into the story with an interesting beginning.
The ending is no doubt amazing as well. This is a turn based rpg, btw.
Pros
-graphics top notch
-simple music that doesn’t get annoying
-gameplay is alright.
-good voice acting, they picked their actors nicely.
-so many extra things to do before the final boss
cons
-voices don’t match up with lips sometimes
-some aspects of the game are VERY frustrating, but these aspects are only optional.
5 Stars Great game overall!
I was really excited to finally get this game! I have been a Final Fantasy fan for years. And had missed out on this game before cause I didn’t have PS2. But now that I finally got it, I am enjoying this game very much! It does get tough at times, but then it wouldn’t be a game if it was easy!
The only thing is, the voice acting is just TERRIBLE!!! Tidus sounds a little like a Toby McGuire wannabe. Except that Toby can actually act, LOL! The other voice actors are pretty bad too! But if you are a Final Fantasy fan, it shouldn’t bother you too much!
Excellent game play, beautiful environments, and great animations!
5 Stars A good change in FF series
This game is simply addicting. Although the game play has changed dramatically from its predecessors in moving away from the “Active Time Battle” system, the battles are still incredibly enjoyable. I think it has made a more strategy type battle in having characters that are bettor suited for killing different enemies and not having a time limit to base your decisions. The comparisons to FF Tactics are correct in that the character turns do not have a time limit and an infinite amount of time can be used to reach the best decision, but that is really where the similarities end. The amount of tactics in FFX is limited to selecting the character to fight and very rarely are you able to move around the battlefield as in FF Tactics.
I love the new method of leveling up by using the sphere grid because the player has much more control of what the character will develop into. I find it to be a pleasant middle ground between not having any say in how my skills or attributes will develop (FFIV) while not being as completely fluid as being able to change my characters skills constantly depending on the situation (FFVII). Granted instead of changing the skill of the characters to defeat enemies you will instead be switching characters in and out of battle constantly (you can change characters on their turn for someone currently not in the fight) to take advantage of their special skills. This leads to a very interesting battle system that I do enjoy, but am also a little irritated by having to constantly switch characters around to get everyone experience. Unless the characters are used in that fight they do not get experience to level up. Even if they attack and miss they count has having a turn and will get experience from the fight. I found myself having several characters early on really doing the vast amount of killing and getting most experience (Auron and Wakka) while others are really only needed in special situations (Yuna and Lulu) due to limited skill sets. To counteract this and level up all characters I found myself “wasting” turns with Yuna, Lulu, and Kimahri doing very little damage to none at all to keep the last enemy alive so everyone could get a chance to get experience from the fight. That really drove me crazy since I was wasting time to get them experience when I could have killed the enemies immediately with one hit from Auron, but unless I leveled them up they would never get useful and be able to take care of things on their own. I would have liked to see the characters all level up even if not used, perhaps to a lesser extent, like that seen in FFVII so I do not have to involve all the characters constantly if their special skills are not required. Either that or balance the enemies or characters better so some characters are not constantly needed in fights to always get experience when others are needed less frequently creating an imbalanced cast.
It is certainly much more linear than what some people prefer in a RPG, but it really did not bother me so much since the story, from the beginning, was telling you of a journey from point A with a destination of point B. All the stuff in between makes the journey exciting and fun to be a part of, but with the story they tell, the linear nature could not have been avoided. I felt FFVII was just as linear with the constant objective ahead of you, even if you could travel to unnecessary locations.
Even with all that gripe about switching in and out characters the battles were still very enjoyable and I absolutely loved the story. I will not ruin it with anything other than it hooks you and keeps you involved throughout since the objective is always known, but the reason for the objective changes. I truly liked all the characters, even though Wakka drove me crazy with his dogmatic drivel sometimes, and it keeps you invested in finding out what happens. This game is definitely one of the best games of any genre I have played. You can easily get 70hrs of game play with all the side quests in the game and the primary alone still takes up a hefty amount of time.
From game developer Sucker Punch, creators of the award-winning Sly Cooper series, and publisher Sony comes inFAMOUS. The first open-world title exclusively for the PlayStation 3, infamous is a single player action/adventure that places you in the role of once regular guy, Cole, who in the aftermath of a horrific catastrophe finds himself not only alive, but developing a fantastic array of superpowers. Going from ordinary to extraordinary overnight isn’t something to take lightly. With these powers does one exact revenge? Protect the innocent? Or perhaps, dabble in a little of both? The choice is yours in infamous
Story Built around open-world gameplay where the player decides how to deal with both criminal gangs bent on destruction and devastated citizens who need help, action in infamous contains the standard mix of mission play, in which players are given specific goals and activities to meet, and free play scenarios, where you can wander Empire City doing what they will. In both, developing and learning to control Cole’s electricity-based powers is crucial. Cole can not actually generate energy, so these powers are based on energy manipulation instead. This manipulation comes in three basic forms: discharge of energy at living or inanimate targets in either diffused or precise bursts; generation of energy shields used as protection against the weapons or special powers of enemies; and the infusion of objects with time-delayed destructive energy for use as grenades or mines. As impressive as these powers are they do have drawbacks though. Because electricity can cause combustion, Cole can not wield firearms and can be hurt by items he blows up. Also, like anything electrically driven, his abilities require a power source. In the damaged, but not destroyed Empire City, these sources can be found throughout the gameplay area, but players must note that certain actions drain energy faster than others and that enemies will become aware of your need of a power source as the game proceeds and accordingly attempt to destroy those sources. This need for power also provides a major illustration of the game’s morality system. As battles rage throughout the gameplay area and power sources become either scarce or destroyed, Cole is faced with the ethics of his ‘bio-draw’ ability. Through this he can harvest electrical energy from living organisms. This will provide the energy needed to survive in a pinch, but may also have consequences as to how the game develops over both the short and long-term. In addition to this, players will also face similar game-changing choices in dealing with more casual scenarios involving the citizens of Empire City. As well intentioned as a hero may be, in many cases he is just as likely to be hated as he is to be praised. Choice is the deciding factor in this, and that resides squarely on the shoulders of players in infamous Key Game Features:

4 Stars good game…….not great though
Well I just completed infamous, and my thoughts are that this is a good game that any ps3 owner should at least rent. They did a good job of making the city feel alive.
My reviews are always short so I will just say if a game like gta but with super human powers in a torn down nyc type city sounds fun to you, then you can’t go wrong with infamous.
5 Stars A really good game
Although there are some repeating segments in the game, this game overall is a very fun and finished product. Although you can play as both good and evil in the game, the choice system is very extreme. The good and bad choices are very very obvious in the game i.e. nothing is nuanced. The game is fun and I consider myself being a sort of average gamer at best, & I could play the game on tough all the way till the end boss. On medium and lower the game will just zip by. Overall its fun and plays almost like a third person shooter.
4 Stars Remember Spiderman 2 the game?
The game was very fun to play, overall. Much like in the older game, Spiderman 2, you are basically gived free rein over a metropolis spewing with the usual crime infestation. Although, if you are familer with hits like City of Heroes, you will know what this is not too much different. That can be a good thing, but it can also be a let down (i.e. you basically know in the back of your head whats going to happen.) There is also an element of action/reaction in the game, and how you decide the outcome of some situations. This may make you appear more heroic, or downright malicious.
4 Stars Great SINGLE PLAYER game.
This game was great and gave alot of fun. Some people were saying that it was two short. This is most likely beacuse it seemed like it was meant for multiple playthroughs. And after playing it through twice I felt it was a very fun game and had an interesting story. There is no online or multiplayer modes but if your looking for a great campaign type of game, this is it.
4 Stars Cool Fun Game
inFAMOUS is a very cool open game it has a lot missions (each one unique) The idea of the Game is very original, but after sometime of playing it, you will get bored. i rated this game 4 stars and not 5 because every power of the main character is repetetive, you do the same movements over and over.

Gears of War, an Xbox 360 exclusive game that blends tactical action with survival horror, thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing tale of humankind’s epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. The storyline plays out like a Hollywood blockbuster — lead character Marcus Fenix pits advanced human technology against the overwhelming Locust Horde. Built around a revolutionary third-person tactical combat system and breathtaking, high-definition visuals from the Unreal Engine 3, Gears of War immerses you in a horrifying tale of war and survival.

The gameplay is focused on a fire team co-op so advanced that your A.I. teammates are indiscernible from human players. Voice recognition and real-time lip synching heighten the absorbing experience. The Unreal Engine 3 technology brings out the smallest details in the largest of battles. With GOW you’re sure to experience a rich, dynamic world where characters spring to life. Speaking of life, the battlefield is a lethal place. To survive, you must suppress your enemy with blindfire, take cover in interactive environments, and use weapons and teammates to outwit your dreaded, inhuman foes. And with a title like GOW, it would be shame if you couldn’t get online and challenge live gamers. With the next-generation of Xbox Live, you’ll be able to experience individualized matchmaking, view player statistics, earn player achievements, customize games, and build personalized gamer profiles.
Gears of War shined bright at Microsoft’s pre-E3 press briefing, but a deeper demo at Microsoft’s E3 booth revealed many of the game’s mechanics. GOW is built with both the hardcore and casual gamer in mind. But, instead of selecting a difficulty level at the start of the game, GOW offers a choice at the beginning of each level. In the vein of choose your own adventure, you can select between a difficult or easy path. And it’s not just a simple choice of battling tougher enemies; each path (explained by a comrade) represents additional content that is crucial to the storyline. After easing your way into the experience of the gameplay with the simpler paths, you can go back and test your skills on the more difficult routes and never feel like you’ve played through the areas before.
Standing around in the open is likely to get you killed in GOW. You must use cover to survive. With a context sensitive A button function, you won’t have to sweat memorizing cumbersome button combos. The A button will:
- Slam you into cover. As you approach cover in GOW simply tap the A button to slide and make immediate use of cover.
- Vault you over the cover. Once you’re in cover, pressing up and A will vault you over your cover to engage the opponent or next cover opportunity.
- Evade enemy fire. When you’re forced to be out in the open, tapping the A button will engage a roll maneuver to evade enemy fire.
- Activate a “Swat Turn.” When taking cover on the side of a doorway, pressing the A button will spin your character from one side of the doorway to the other, helping avoid fire.
Ripping a magazine free and replacing it in the midst of bloody combat is no easy task. GOW simulates this difficult action by forcing you to perfect your reloading skills. To be effective in combat you’ll need to allot for time to successfully reload your weapon. Do it well and the battle is yours; do it poorly and you may actually jam your gun. Time it perfectly and you’ll earn a bonus with a temporary damage boost. Though GOW clearly showcases a sci-fi experience, its roots are in tactical, realistic combat scenarios. Therefore, running and gunning makes for seriously erratic shooting. Think about what you’re doing. Unless wasting ammo is your goal, you better stop, aim, shoot, and then move on. Otherwise, the Locust Horde might swarm you and take your life.
Gears of War presents a focused and well-paced cinematic experience, and nothing ruins that faster than a time-consuming exploration of every switch or button to find the elusive trigger to open a door. This game introduces a “point of interest” button that comes up on the screen so you can immediately interact with the necessary item to move forward in your gameplay. GOW certainly offers drool-worthy graphics, but the mechanics have also received equal attention. Keep your eyes and ears on high alert for a release date, as Microsoft hasn’t let the cat out of the bag on when gamers will be able to tackle this great-looking and great-playing title.

5 Stars this is totally sick
wow this is like the best buy ive got from amazon yet. used, like new, and loads of fun.
5 Stars Awesomness
This is by far on of the better shooters for the 360, only negative I can think of is the dialog is a little cheesy sometimes. But hey it’s a shooter, what do you expect.
I disagree with one of the previous commentators that the extra disc isn’t good. Yeah, sure it’s free online, but if you don’t own the game yet, it’s a nice touch to have it all on disc. And besides it’s not like there charging extra for it.
5 Stars GOW (not God of War)
This game may have been relatively short (and I would recommend the sequel above this one) but I highly recommend it anyway.
1 Star Killed my dog
In short this game LITERALLY killed my dog.
When I put it in the box, it exploded into flames turning my dog into a smoldering corpse…
DO NOT GET THIS GAME IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG (or cat)
4 Stars There Will Be Blood…
A Chainsaw added to a Assault rifle will become your new toy on this game.Blood, gore and ripping a locust in half with the chainsaw will have you playing this game for hours each day(if not months).Offline and online have solid gameplay and entertainment so get ready to “RAAM” your chainsaw through some locusts and go “Berserk” while doing it!

In Resident Evil 4 you’ll know a new type of horror, as the classic survival-horror action returns with all-new characters, controls and storylines. We last saw Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 – a rookie cop in Raccoon City, fighting to stay alive. That was six years ago. Since then, government forces have managed to control the zombie threat and Leon has become a Federal agent. When the President’s daughter is kidnapped, Leon tracks her to a remote, hidden fortress in Europe – where he’ll relive the horror he faced six years before. Players will face never-before-seen enemies that make Nemesis seem like a kitten. You’ll be wishing for the usual Resident Evil zombies!

3 Stars Not the right game for wii
Ok I had a wii and no other platform but wanted a game aside from the party games that are fun with wii. I bought this based on the reviews. I have played it all of the way through and while entertaining it just wasnt that great when I knew that the ps3 and xbox could blow it out of the water in terms of graphics, and game play. The whole time I played it I just kept thinking how much better it could be. There are things that the wii is great for. This isnt one of them and should have been left to the x-box and ps3.
5 Stars I am an addict!
I’ve never been much of a gamer but my son had Resident Evil 4 and had always talked about what a great game it is. I’m over 40 and never expected to like it at all but I did decide to sit down and give it a try. I finally pried my stiff fingers from the remote several hours later. Since then, I run back to the Wii set up and play every chance I get. I’m definitely still a beginner and it has taken me forever to get to level 4 but I’m learning fast. The graphics are great and really make you feel a part of the action. Yes, it is definitely gorey and violent. It is not for children under 17. If, however, you’re an adult who enjoys horror movies then I think you’d enjoy this game as well. I’ve always loved zombie films since seeing Night of the Living Dead when I was a youngster and this is like playing a role in a zombie movie. Be warned, however, that this game is highly habit forming and may lead to serious neglect of your laundry and other household chores. It’s definitely a guilty pleasure for me. I’m embarassed to tell my other adult female friends that I’m addicted to RE 4 but I am and I can’t help myself!
5 Stars One of the best I have played…
I can’t believe how much fun this game was. I own the PS2 version and I never could get the controls to work for myself. I am not an obsessed gamer but do enjoy playing. I find it very difficult at times to aim using the dual joysticks on the PS2 and when I played this it felt as if it was made for the Wii. The controls are great and the story is exciting. For the graphics I have to say that I was also pleasantly surprised. I played this game excessively until I completed it as it was just that exciting. For $20 you can’t find a better game. Pick this up now if you are a fan of the RE series or even if you like horror/suspense movies/games. You won’t regret it.
